Accreditation is earned, not automatic. It recognizes home watch businesses that meet the National Home Watch Association’s standards for professionalism, accountability and ethics.

To be accredited, a business must:

Pass criminal background checks on all company principals
Pass reviews with consumer affairs agencies and the Better Business Bureau
Hold all required business licenses for the areas it serves
Keep proof of insurance and bonding current
Commit to the NHWA Code of Ethics and best practices

Accredited companies are re-accredited every year.

Certified Home Watch Professional (CHWP)

The CHWP designation is awarded to individuals at NHWA-accredited companies who meet strict training and experience requirements in home watch.

To earn the CHWP designation, a professional must:

Own or work for an NHWA-accredited company
Meet practical experience standards
Complete core and regional training
Pass the NHWA certification exam
Keep up continuing education, with recertification every two years
